About Suzan Sommers
The memory of standing with my mom at the blackboard and watching her hand move as she taught me to draw my first face has shaped the direction of my art through the years. I have been fascinated by faces ever since. The line in our house is, "if it is hanging on the wall and has a face, Suz made it." In the last 5 years, I have been exploring the relationship between sacred, mythical, and mundane in my work. In many ways, it helps me truly appreciate these areas of my life and recognize just how much overlap there is.
